Mum of two, Anita, speaks about her involvement with Gullane Gym.
How did you get into training?
“I have always trained from school days, and that’s where everything started. After school I qualified with an HND in Health and Fitness. This included a wide variety of subjects including personal instructing, strength management, and managing sports events.
My first job was as an instructor in The Edinburgh Club in London Road and I worked my way up to be one of the managers there.”
What classes do you take in Gullane Gym?
“I take the Metafit and Kettlercise classes – there are at least two of each every week plus I do one to one instruction in TRX Body Suspension training. I also take the mini trampoline Bouncefit class.
In addition I do gym instruction on a one to one basis and help individuals follow their exercise routines. It is important that the exercises are done correctly both to gain maximum benefit and to avoid strains or pulled muscles.
I’m also the timetable coordinator at the gym.”
Tell me more about your competitions –
“For two years I have been doing body building figure training. My last competition was in September 2014 run by the Natural Physique Association. I have to follow a strict diet and make sure I eat healthily as well as doing a wide range of exercises.”
I’m thinking of coming to the gym so can you advise the best way to take this forward?
“I’m very happy to talk to individuals about the best way forward for them, be it general fitness, weight loss, or training for a competition.”
